MLS: New York Red Bulls 1-0 Chicago Fire

Red Bulls 1-0 Fire (Henry 71′)

Overlook: Hardly a game worth drooling over, but a screamer from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry made this game worth reporting. It was a quiet first half with the majority of chances coming from the Red Bulls as Fire really struggled to set the game alight. The second half was much like the first with Red Bulls very much on the front foot. Thierry Henry’s scored 10 minutes after the hour mark in sensational style. A chipped ball out towards the left from Le Toux was chested down by the Frenchmen and he thumped the ball on the half volley and bounced off the post and into the net.

Man of the Match: Theirry Henry – The Frenchmen was the hero for NYRB. His 71st minute goal was the difference between the two sides, and he scored amazingly as described in the paragraph above. Aside from the goal, Henry was key in all the link up play and created the most chances. Though the goal reminded people of Henry’s dexterity, this was the first chance he has netted since the end of April.
