As you may know I am a big fan of the Bundesliga and for me, if you take the Premier League out of the equation, it is the best league in the world. It is filled with world-class stars like Ribéry, Robben, Lewandowski, Lahm, Hummels, and Huntelaar amongst others. Alongside some of the brightest prospects in world football, including: Götze, Shaqiri, Ter Stegen and many more!
Here Are My Top 4 Predictions For The Bundesliga This Season.
For two years in a row Borussia Dortmund, led by the marvellous Jürgen Klopp, have had a grip on the Bundesliga title beating Bavarian team Bayern Munich to the top each time. However, as of now things are different in the football kingdom of Germany, BVB have not got the start they wanted whilst Bayern, bolstered by the signings of Mario Mandžukić, Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante, the re-signing of Claudio Pizzaro and last but most certainly not least, Javi Martínez who cost no less that 40 million euros making him the record signing of the Bundesliga. Bayern currently top the league with 15 points winning all of their league games so far and other than the signings, the step up of Toni Kroos who has been labelled as “currently the best player in the league” and the return to form of Thomas Müller will have been brilliant for the fans of Bayern, as they pursue their target of claiming the title of German champions again.
Dortmund, on the other hand, find themselves 6th with only 8 points to their name. Klopp will of course be very disappointed in this and will be working hard to solve any of the clubs current weaknesses. One weakness which will be known to many spectators of BVB is their defensive fragility, an example of this is the clubs match against Frankurt where they blew a 2-0 lead with the match ending 3-3. This was followed by a reported outburst from the (usually) outstanding, Matias Hummels. If they are going to win the title for the third consecutive season they will need to sort out such problems. But, it is early days yet and I’m sure there will be many twists and turns to come. Other than the big two another team that can be considered as title contenders in Germany are FC Schalke 04. they finished third last season and although they have lost the enigma that is Raul, they are ready for the challenge. It is a team that is filled with many bright young stars including the likes of Julian Draxler and Kyriakos Papadopoulos, who are hungry and willing to put up for a fight for the club. Their chances can’t be harmed with clinical frontman Klass-Jan Huntelaar ready to shoot them to victory for the time-being as least. They are definitely in this race. As of now, I would put my money on Bayern winning the Bundesliga this season, with Dortmund and Schalke falling short.
As for the 4th spot, you would not be mistaken for thinking Borussia Mönchengladbach were in for a shout. But like their namesakes Dortmund, they haven’t started the season well and they only have one win to their name. This isn’t helped by the fact that they have lost star player Marco Reus to BVB and even manager Lucien Favre stated that it was impossible for them to replace him. They will be hoping to rectify their bad start and claim that fourth spot but standing in their way will be Werder Bremen, Bayer Leverkusen and the surprise package of the season, Eintracht Frankfurt. There should be many interesting developments in these ‘races’ and it acts as a great advert for the Bundesliga.
It will be an exciting season in the Bundesliga a league increasing in popularity each season. Definitely a league to watch this season…
