Although, it is only October and the transfer window doesn’t open until January, transfer speculation is rife at the minute and I have compiled a least of players who could be on the move in January.
Yanga-Mbiwa – The Montpellier captain is seemingly running down his contract in order to attract strong interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs. Attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan he’d be a top class signing for any team. The 23-year-old centre-back possesses plenty of attributes to become one of the best in the world. He is fast, strong, an excellent reader of the game, versatile and has brilliant technical ability. If he does end up out of contract in the summer of 2013, I expect many clubs to be in the mix for his signature.
Arshavin – The Russian wizard had a great start to his Arsenal career contributing with 28 goals and 33 in his first 2 and a half years in North London. But since then he has fallen way down the pecking order due to the arrivals of Gervinho, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and the new fans favourite, Santi Cazorla. With his contract up in the summer it seems his Arsenal career is all but over. The captain will have fond memories of his time at the Arsenal including scoring four goals at Anfield and getting the winning goal against Barcelona. Despite his dip at Arsenal I still believe that Andrei is a fantastic player and he could still be a great addition for a good club, he would bring talent, experience, and the desire to do well which are things needed at any football club. He just needs to find his spark again…
Llorente – Fernando Llorente has gone from cult hero to traitorous villain in quick succession at Athletic Bilbao. After scoring 29 goals in the 11/12 season, 7 of which helped guide Bilbao to the final of the Europa League, he decided it was time for him to move on from the Basque country and make a step up in his career by declining the option to renew his contract. Unfortunately the fans of his club did not take his decision well and hurdled abuse at him including referring to him as a ‘Spaniard’ instead of Basque. For most of the summer he was linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, but nothing materialized as Athletic refused to let him go for anything less than his hefty buyout clause. A reason why clubs are interested in him is simple, he is a top quality striker, and with his contract running out next summer he would make a great addition to any top team.
Nani – Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha, a.k.a Nani finds himself in a sticky situation with regards to his time left at Manchester United. Having shown poor form for quite a while and with his contract being up in the summer, it has been widely reported that Sir Alex Ferguson has given him until the next transfer window to save his career as a red devil. When at his worst Nani is frustrating annoying and poor but when he is at his best he is explosive, dynamic and a joy to watch. He is arguably one of the best wingers in the world and could be available for a cheap price in January or even on a free next summer.
All these players would be great buys for any club and could be available on the cheap in January or even free in the Summer if they run down their contracts, so I’m sure many clubs will be monitoring their situations.
