One extremely annoying habit of Liverpool F.C is the fact that they always go after players that expect a higher level of football than what the reds can provide for them. It is the scout’s and manager’s addiction for highly rated players that leaves them with countless cases of rejection and they end up with hardly any useful transfers. I’m going to suggest some players that are less likely to reject the reds on the terms of looking for a higher level of competition and feasible transfers. I have made a complete 11 of players in a 4-3-3 anyone of whom Liverpool should actively look to sign.
GK – Jack Butland:
The Englishman has showed the world exactlywhat he is made of with some absolutely stunning performances in some pretty tough matches like the Team GB match against Brazil. His brilliant reactions, reflexes and diving ability are the key things that separate him from most keepers out there. With his ever-growing ability being shown to the world it’s no doubt that he’ll be having some top teams after his signature.
RB – Mathieu Debuchy:
The French international has been heavily linked with Newcastle but he is still a regular member of Lille’s side. Debuchy is a player that I’ve been admiring for quite some time now. If we can just offer him a good deal then I’m sure that he’ll be set to leave Ligue 1 with a smile on his face. This would also be a good signing due to that gap in the right hand side of defence when Johnson needs to fill in on the left.
CB – Mamadou Sakho:
The Frenchman is an extremely promising centre half with much talent to offer. However his constant spot on the bench with PSG is not really doing that talent any favours. This means that Liverpool would be able to land a pretty good deal with the French giants. The Frenchman is only 22 which leaves the reds with a long-term option if they were to land the transfer. However with growing interest from Manchester city, if they were to even consider an offer they would need to pounce quickly before city could even get close to him.
CB – Felipe Santana
The Brazilian is tired of living in the shadow of fellow centre backs Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels and I’m sure that he would jump at a chance to play some football in England. With the rotation of players by Brendan Rodgers it would ensure that he would get some time on the pitch instead of on the bench.
LB – Dennis Aogo
The German is another defender who has caught my eye over the past couple of seasons. He is an extremely underrated player who can fix the problem in the left hand side of the red defence. Him joining Liverpool would be a step up in his career as he would get to experience the further stages of European football and experience playing in the best league in the world. Such a good deal if it were to happen.
CM – Ivan Rakitic:
The Croatian playmaker is a midfielder who I have followed since his days at Schalke. He impressed quite a few people with his performances in the Euro 2012 competition as well. He’s another player who would give us a good option at set pieces which are one of his best strengths. Rakitic also loves to play key passes which would open up the opposition’s defence. This style of play would match Brendan Rodger’s philosophy of passing till an option is revealed.
CM – Gokhan Inler:
One of the men who have carried Napoli to become one of the most feared teams in the Serie A. There is no doubt that teams would be after his signature but in this case it’s worth the gamble. He is an extremely versatile midfielder who could do a good job anywhere in midfield whether it’s in his preferred role of the centre or playing on the left or right hand side. Inler’s addiction of distance shooting is something that he would have to overcome though to match the style of play Liverpool are trying to use now.
CM – Lewis Holtby:
A player who’s dream is to play in England, after expressing his desires Liverpool saw that as an opportunity to go after the German. However the reds will have to outbid his preferred team Arsenal to land the midfielder. His father is an Englishman who is from Liverpool which on some levels can be the key to getting his signature. One of the main strengths of his that would benefit Brendan Rodgers’ side is his ball interception skills. This would create counter attacks that would be sure to put our frontmen in on goal.
LW – Michel Bastos
One of my favourite players in football at the moment. A player with all the qualities a winger needs; pace, skill, a brilliant shot and a good cross. Bastos is a player that a team would love to have as he is basically the complete winger however despite his period at left back in the early stages of his Lyon career his weakness is his defensive contribution while playing on the wing. But this is something that could be fixed. If Liverpool were to sign him I would see it as one of the best signings the reds could have made.
ST – Nelson Oliveira
A Portuguese striker who has an extremely promising career ahead of him. Currently playing for Deportivo, Oliveira is a player who is breaking into the national team with ease. Liverpool signing him would mean that they would get a young player with lots of promise and a striker who isn’t shy in front of goal. This addition would also give Shelvey the opportunity to play in his preferred centre midfield role again while gaining a very good striker at the same time.
RW – Jefferson Farfan
Farfan is no doubt one of the best wingers in the Bundesliga which is pretty hard to get a status as with the likes of Robben, Ribery and Blaszczykowski playing in the same league. Farfan is in my opinion the glue that keeps the team together, he offers Schalke the pace and good delivery they used to lack in their team and if Liverpool were to pursue any interest it would probably be one of their best choices in the last decade.
