Transfer Deadline Day Round-Up

Premier League clubs managed to spend almost £130million during the window. 76 deals were completed across the UK on deadline day alone, here are the most influential deadline day deals to have been completed before the window closed at 11pm last night.

Mario Balotelli to AC Milan from Manchester City – £19million

The Italian had been struggling in his performances in the league this season, most notably in the Manchester derby where his City side went down 3-2 at home. He also took part in a training ground bust-up with boss Roberto Mancini despite his fellow Italian standing by him the writing may have already been on the wall. Balotelli will be returning to Italy where he had previously played for rivals Inter Milan. As for City they will have to cope with one less striker although the do still have Aguero, Tevez and Dzeko who will provide more than enough fire power.

David Beckham to PSG – free

Although this isn’t a Premier League transfer this deal captured the interest of many back home. Beckham who had been training at Arsenal after leaving LA Galaxy had refused to make a return to any Premier League club in the fear that he would have to play against former club Manchester United. The decision to donate all of his wages to a local children’s charity was a very nice touch as the 37-year-old looks to keep playing high quality football for as long as he possibly can.

Christopher Samba to QPR from Anzhi Makhachkala – £12.5million

Queens Park Rangers have been spending big of late and this transfer was no exception. Christopher Samba who had played for Blackburn will come as a ready made replacement for Ryan Nelson who has left for the MLS. QPR’s defence has been shaky at times to say the least this year and although they may have payed over the odds Samba could provide the solution.

Nacho Monreal to Arsenal from Malaga – undisclosed fee

This deal was supposed to take place at the end of the season but with the injury to Kieran Gibbs, Arsene Wenger pushed to get the deal done in time for the 11pm deadline. Arsenal have been having problems in the left-back postion so far this season with Andre Santos looking less than convincing when it came to defending. Monreal will be a good replacement for Santos as I’m sure Arsenal fans will agree.

Danny Graham to Sunderland from Swansea – £5million

With the arrival of Michu, Danny Graham had been somewhat pushed out of the limelight at Swansea. He will be much needed by Sunderland however, who seem to be relying on Steven Fletcher to find the net.

Jack Butland to Stoke from Birmingham – £3.5million

Butland has been watched by many clubs after he became the youngest ever England international goalkeeper, when he played against Italy in August at the age of 19 years 158 days. He had been in talks with Chelsea but decided to go for Stoke as they promised more first-team football. The keeper certainly has a lot of potential and at only £3.5million Stoke seem to have got a good deal.
